Description:

The Department of Spanish Italian and Portuguese at the University of Illinoisat Urbana-Champaign is seeking two (2) Visiting Instructors to teach its largeand well-established technologically-enhanced Spanish Basic LanguageProgram.

Minimum qualifications include an M.A. in Spanish with a background insecond language acquisition, communicative language teaching, or somerelated area of applied linguistics. Near native or native ability in Spanishalong with experience in technology based language instruction also required.At least two years of teaching language at the college level. Duties includeteaching the equivalent of six undergraduate courses per year in the basiclanguage program depending on program needs.

Responsibilities include writing and administering exams, developing coursecurriculum/syllabus, maintaining on-line course management system,participating in orientation and ongoing training of teaching assistants,contributing to any course/program innovation and other departmental dutiesas assigned.

This is a full-time, 9-month appointment with additional summer servicepossible. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Targetstarting date is August 16, 2012.
